STATE OF ALABAMA COUNTY OF LIMESTONE NOTICE is hereby given that a bill substantially as follows will be introduced in the 2017 Regular Session of the Legislature of Alabama and application for its passage and enactment will be made: A BILL TO BE ENTITLED AN ACT To alter, rearrange, and extend the boundary lines and corporate limits of the City of Athens in Limestone County. BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF ALABAMA: Section 1. The boundary lines and corporate limits of the City of Athens in Limestone County are altered, rearranged, and extended to include within the corporate limits of the city, in addition to the lands now included, all of the following territory: A tract of land lying in the Northeast Quarter of Section 24, Township 3 South, Range 7 West, Limestone County, Alabama, and being more particularly described as follows, Commence at an existing railroad spike at the Northwest corner of the Northeast Quarter of Section 24, Township 3 South, Range 7 West, said railroad spike North 00 degrees 12 minutes 05 seconds East a distance of 132.51 feet from an existing TVA Monument No. 77, thence along Snake Road, North 89 degrees 27 minutes 32 seconds East a distance of 159.97 feet to a point; thence South 20 feet more or less to the South right of way of Snake Road, which said point being the Point of True Beginning of the tract herein described, Thence from the Point of True Beginning continue North 89 degrees 27 minutes 32 seconds East along the South right of way of said Snake Road a distance of 1143.59 feet to a point lying 20.00 feet due South of an existing nail and shiner in the centerline of Snake Road at the west end of a bridge across the Lucy Branch Embayment of Wheeler Lake, Thence continue along the South right of way of Snake Road and then in a southerly direction to the 556.3 foot contour of Wheeler Lake; thence with the 556.3 foot contour as it meanders in a southerly direction and subsequently in a southeasterly direction 1100.00 feet, more or less, to the mouth of said embayment; thence South 89 degrees West 150 feet, more or less, to the southeast corner of a breakwater formed by a barge which floats generally in an east to west direction; thence run in a westerly direction along the south end of said barge to the southwest corner of said barge; thence in a northerly direction 40 feet, more or less, to the southwest corner of a breakwater formed by an additional barge which floats in a generally south to north direction; thence along the south end of said barge 25 feet, more or less, to the southwest corner of said barge; thence along the west end of said barge to the 556.3 foot contour; at the southeast corner of a 1.80 acre tract as shown on a boundary survey prepared by Dunivant Engineering dated August 11, 2004 JN 7240; thence north 11 degrees 17 minutes 10 seconds west 247.2 feet, more or less, to the northeast corner of said tract; thence south 86 degrees 11 minutes 21 seconds east 340.00 feet, more or less, to the northwest corner of said tract; thence South 00 degrees 58 minutes 48 seconds west 76.14 feet; thence North 82 degrees 20 minutes 36 seconds West 106.28 feet; thence 149 degrees 45 minutes 54 seconds along an arc of 52.28 with a radius of 20 a chord bearing of North 22 degrees 46 minutes 27 seconds East for a distance of 38.62 feet, more or less, to the Northeast boundary of a 25.00 foot ingress/egress easement; thence North 52 degrees 06 minutes 30 seconds West along said boundary 160.38 feet; thence North 88 degrees 51 minutes 44 seconds west along said boundary 24.62 feet; thence along a curve to the right with a radius of 375 an arc of 184.44 feet and chord bearing of North 74 degrees 46 minutes 20 seconds west for a distance of 182.58 feet; thence continue along said boundary along a curve to the right a radius of 125 feet, an arc of 142.99 a chord bearing of North 27 degrees 54 minutes 36 seconds west for a distance of 135.32 feet; thence continue along boundary North 04 degrees 51 minutes 43 seconds east 72.35 feet; thence continue along said boundary North 06 degrees 54 minutes 47 seconds east 240.00 feet, more or less, to the south right of way of Snake Road and the true point of beginning. Section 2. In accordance with Section 11-42-6(b) of the Code of Alabama 1975, a map showing what territory is proposed to be annexed to the City of Athens is on file in the office of the Judge of Probate in Limestone County, Alabama, and the map is open to the inspection of the public. Section 3. This act shall not extend the police jurisdiction of the city beyond the corporate limits of the city. Section 4.
